    LANDsds Sustainable Voice News came out of the brain of Tyra Oldham, ceo of LAND sds to develop a news portal covering the nexuses in sustainability news from around the world. This week LANDsds Sustainable Voice News top 500 plus in content since it development in March.

    The need to provide news as a nexuses aids in the synergy and connectivity of content, energy, technology, renewables, economics, finance, architecture, construction, arts, education, resources, manufacturing, global impacts and infrastructure in sustainability.  We seek to make a difference in the multidisciplinary exploration of solutions, business intelligence and innovation for a sustainable world.

    Hiring a Consultant Considering Sustainability

    Consulting is a mixed artistry profession that requires leadership on topic, industry and mastery of mind, systems and organizational structuring. Consultants have been given a bad name over time -charlatan. These names derived from the internal pressure consultants manage daily to gain, maintain and sustain client's satisfaction. Often consultants are hired to parrot the client's wishes providing a mimicry of the data versus exposing the beauty in the data to rudder changes. The better solution is to embrace the data and let it have meaning in driving leadership and stewardship.

    Today, with the massive amounts of data (Big Data) and companies engaging in broad stroke requirements, consulting is more important in the initiation of strategy, organizational change and development, planning, and implementation. Consultants as third party professionals performing drill down analyses are hired to clarify and justify. When freed from constraints, consultants can unleash mastery, becoming a creative disruptive force aiding in the production of quality, lean, profitability and sustainability.

    Sustainability Consultants can identify risk-reward-value within practice, process, performance and/or policy. When companies operate from their internal hard drive or mental models their analyses can be myopic, granular and leading. The constrained data will lead companies down a rabbit whole of fantasy, and ill prepared to manage change and disruption. Consultants with mastery are artists, operating on an organization, a subject and/or a product canvas constructing a unique voice for the client. Clients can choose to hire a surgeon or a therapist, one cuts deep and the other performs surface solutions.

    Suggestive sustainable consulting criteria:

    • Support consultants to be given or have access to the data and hired with confidentiality.
    • Support client's to appreciate disruptive change and information.
    • Suggest consultants perform informed analyses to mitigate, negotiate and appreciate the customer's positionality.
    • Suggest clients digest intelligences across all platforms.
    • Suggest clients allow for sustainability integration for growth and profitability.
    • Support the allowance of risk-reward-value proposition analyses to drive tactical movements.
    • Support the development of the business case within the organization's ecosystem.

    When consultants embrace new models and support capacity building the framework of consultation changes producing profitability and sustainability. It is the role of the sustainability consultant to open doors for their clients in this intelligence age and big data world.

    Advent of Benchmarking is Considered in Energy Efficient Building

    Next generation construction will require data analysis and curation of information to determine efficiency and effectiveness of buildings.  The importance of "Energy Benchmarking Comes to the Midwest" from Green Tech Media reveals the need to determine real measurements on going green.

    "Energy disclosure and benchmarking has finally pushed its way inland in the U.S. Beginning in 2014, Minneapolis will be the first city in the Midwest to require large commercial buildings to report their energy and water use annually."

    "In Minneapolis, commercial buildings account for about one-third of the greenhouse gas pollution in the city. One study found that requiring energy benchmarking could save about 7 percent."

    “This ordinance acknowledges that buildings have a tremendous impact on greenhouse gas pollution,” Mayor R.T. Rybak said in a statement. “The long-term intent is to work toward City targets around reducing greenhouse gas pollution while supporting the potential for energy savings, local economic activity and local green jobs.”

    "Disclosure laws are increasingly coming to cities where LEED, green leases and cleantech are not already hot topics, such as Philadelphia. Bringing legislation that requires large building owners to at least acknowledge their building’s energy use will be an important first step to achieve Obama’s recent call for America to cut its energy use in buildings in half."

    "Philadelphia is also home the Energy Efficient Buildings Hub, a U.S. Department of Energy innovation cluster that wants to bring efficiency to not just the well-heeled class-A office space, but to average buildings (in average cities) too."

    In a big data world buildings cannot go under the wire of reporting, analytics and forensics to determine efficiency. Standards demand measurement and systems for continuous improvement. The work of the Midwest can lead the way to factor what is efficiency, effectiveness and energy efficient building leading to netzero and sustainability. The direction of benchmarking is derived by plan to adopt change, and manage knowledge to produce new intelligence around buildings, construction, as well as retrofit.

    Google Search Changes Thinking Clean Green Energy Implications

    Google changes image search application. This blog will seek to understand the impact on less widely searched sectors such as, green-clean-energy."Google Unveils 'Faster' Image Search" reported by Mashable. The relevance to green-clean-energy search is access to data images and yet, the questions holds will the images be streamlined loosing vital additional images in a less searched space.

    "Google has revamped its image search for faster and better results, the company announced Wednesday.

    In the next few days, images will be displayed in an inline panel so that users can quickly flip through a set of images using their keyboard, Google announced in a blog post.

    "Based on feedback from users and webmasters, we redesigned Google Images to provide a better search experience," Hongyi Li, Google's associate product manager, wrote.

    As a result, it will be "faster, more beautiful and more reliable," he added."

    The importance of search is the ability to gain access to information in a Big Data world. The critical nature of search is the ability to gain relevant information pertinent to the request versus the predictive data that is provided as predictive search leads the way. When understanding the question, search becomes a tool. The ability to gain images in this open source search world can become more complex upon every algorithm change within Google.

    The Internet Information Gap in Gender Online Presence

    In a high technology world the emphasis on knowledge and intelligence are instrumental in developing sustainable organizations.  The ability to access information in this open source and intense search environment can be strength and weakness for organizations to locate data and be found. Next, consider the online gap between women and men and the importance access to information is in building knowledge in today's world. The Wired article "The Internet Is Still a Man’s World in Developing Countries" identifies the differences in online usage between women and men.

    "In the U.S., the gap between the number of men and women who use the internet is about 4 percent. A study conducted by Intel, the United Nations and the U.S. State Department finds that in developing countries, the gap climbs to 23 percent."

    "The report surveyed 2,200 women, most of whom live in Mexico, Uganda, India and Egypt. The biggest gender gap is found in Uganda and other parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, where only 9 percent of girls and women have internet access, compared to 16 percent of men. India and other southern Asian countries have the lowest numbers of women online overall, at just 8 percent."

    Intel is pushing to get more women online in the next three years, to empower them with more knowledge and to spread the Internet to more countries. The report estimates doubling the number of women that have Internet access could add $13 billion to $18 billion to the GDP across 144 developing countries, and “open up a market opportunity of $50 billion and $70 billion.” That would mean more women online looking at ads and shopping in the same way Americans have done for the last decade."

    The importance and relevance is not only gaining access to information but education as well. The internet provides information equity and enabled access to information in the information age.     2013 Energy Index After 2012 Lows

    The complexity with innovation is in determining the lens in which to view growth. The complexity in energy is the talk or growth as some in the industry feel contraction.  "Clean Energy Index Rising in 2013 After 5.5% Drop in 2012" reports Bloomberg News in energy.

    Energy Stocks

    "The WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index (NEX), which tracks 94 clean-energy stocks, has gained 4.6 percent since the start of the year after a worldwide slump in the solar industry pulled it down in 2012.

    The NEX, as it’s called, rose 1.6 percent to $125.56 at the close in New York, after a 2.9 percent increase yesterday. It lost 5.5 percent of its market value in 2012, while the NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) rose 1 percent and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index climbed 13 percent.

    “There is still a large degree of uncertainty out there, especially in Europe with what will happen with the evolution of renewable-energy policy,” Salvatore said in an interview yesterday.

    There were some bright spots among renewable energy and clean-technology companies last year. The smart-grid system maker Itron Inc. (ITRI) gained 25 percent and Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA), which makes electric cars, increased 19 percent.

    Those were the exceptions, Molchanov said. “The vast majority were down and solars in particular were down.”

    Solar manufacturers Suntech Power Holdings Co. (STP), Trina Solar Ltd. (TSL) and Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. (YGE) all closed the year down more than 30 percent. Solar panel prices have plunged 60 percent since the start of 2011."

    The outcome of these reports have shape and form on the steps taken to a clean-green-energyfuture. Speculation and bullish movement can effect energy and sustainable leadership. The method we suggest is in finding the knowledge amongst the Big Data to extract the diamonds that reveal the strength and weaknesses in the market for growing a diverse energetic energy future. Sustainability comes at a certain price and those who lead will have to evaluate the cost in developing a sustainable future.
