LAND sds Taking its Own Medicine

    March 24, 2014

    LAND sds

LAND sds like many companies go dark as the plan for the future. LAND sds is under going reorganization and change for a sustainable future. Companies have to take time to assess, audit and analyze where they are within their own lifecycle. LAND sds is taking its own advice!

The goal is identify its secret sauce and opportunity to have impact today for tomorrow for performance, productivity and profitability. This thinking is sustainable and optimal for success and building relationships within complex ecosystems.

It is easy to run to what we know versus stepping back to analyze where is the next step for the future. This is complex but adopts an attitide of change.   "As we implore clients to think about their present operations for success we too have to drink our philosophical koolaid,"  said, Tyra Oldham, ceo.

LAND sds is proud of its year on the NeXuses where we are providing sustainable news and received awards for leadership but today is now.

Government Shutdown a Wake Up Call to Small Business

    October 5, 2013

    Tyra Oldham, ceo, LAND sds

The government shutdown is in its fifth day. The contraction of service  effects the supply chain of economy, social support and national public services. The shutdown big picture is the connectivity of small business to the government pipeline of contracts, support and intelligence.

The shutdown has placed all reports on hold that provide strategic data.

The contracts, funding and grants from the U.S. government are economic drivers for small business. The governments' SBIR, Darpa, grants programs and more are the platforms for small business development. The services that the government outsources to small developing businesses are fuel centers of many small businesses.

NBC reported, "How the ripple effects of the government shutdown might spread, day by day" and "Monday, Oct. 7: Sikorsky Aircraft of Connecticut, which sells helicopters to the Defense Department, says it will be forced to furlough 2,000 workers in Connecticut, Florida and Alabama."

"Friday, Oct. 11: United Technologies, a major defense contractor, says it will be forced to furlough 4,000 workers at two of its companies, Pratt & Whitney and UTC Aerospace Systems. Sikorsky says it will furlough 1,000 more."
"Saturday, Oct. 12: Football Saturday for the service academies: Army hosts Eastern Michigan, and Navy is at Duke. Those games are up in the air — but college football is such a moneymaker that private donors would probably step in. Private donations are covering the Oct. 5 games, and military officials say the NCAA, CBS Sports and United Airlines all offered to help."
Last, to understand the domino is "Tuesday, Oct. 15: The final deadline to file your 2012 tax return, provided you got an exemption for the regular April 15 deadline. "
The shutdown is not good for business but even worse for smaller concerns. Sustainability reveals that the ecosystem in which we work is based on robust activity on every level. When OEMs or Tier I's cease to grow or decide upon a pragmatic or conservative practices to operating, Tier II or III's contract and shrink. Moreover, when Tier II and III's evaporate there is collapse in innovation, jobs and businesses that feed the Tier I's.

Good business is great for everyone and the opposite hold true.

    Consider the Power of Sustainability

    August 22, 2013

    By Tyra Oldham, LAND sds

There is no other time in our history that has produced such a nexus of events driving education, economics, innovation, business, health care, social justice, technology and leadership than today. In every century this can be said but yet, the elements today significantly place a shift as technology, innovation, energy and globalization are hallmarks of this age. Globalization are not as explorers of the past but as synthesized economies that are pegged to one another through dynamic markets. The confluence of these moving parts is the recipe for sustainability thinking.

Let's first begin by distilling some facts.

    1. Sustainability is only for energy and environmental solutions. Sustainability is a process for capturing all internal and external resources for optimization. Organizations can limit sustainability to energy, energy efficiency, environment, carbon capture, emissions but more so, sustainability distills down the simplest node of an organization for effectiveness.
    2. Sustainability is perceived as a big or large organizational construct. Sustainability can be used by a one man shop or a transnational corporation. The differences are represented by their ecosystem and supply chain. Sustainability identifies stakeholders, ecosystem and supply chains across platforms, systems and processes for a new lens to durability, longevity and profitability.
    3. Sustainability is for people who believe in green. Sustainability are for people who believe in considering tomorrow in their present operations. If you as a leader have an organization that you consider only today and tomorrow is not relevant then yes, sustainability is not for you. Sustainability is a working mechanism aggregating and defining elegant solutions.
    4. Sustainability is not used by technology companies. Technology companies are indeed driven by sustainability as the torrent of data, systems, energy and innovation push out and into these organizations. Consider, Google, Yahoo and more who have formed alliances to determine how to gain energy, solutions and requirements to service their systems for tomorrow. These companies are tooling to build smart grid solutions that indeed will aid other surrounding organizations producing sustainable solutions.

Consider, the impact of governmental change, economy and the need for leaning resources to manage operability. Sustainability is the tool and lens to change programs and processes to shape the organization in structuring effective decisions and outcomes. Sustainability is the tool to manage this new dynamic work place where more and innovation is demanded daily to meet goals.
