    Utilities Using Analytics

    LAND sds Staff Writer

    April 13, 2012

The understanding of big data in energy can help identify gaps.  Smart Grid provided the storyData Management & Analytics for Utilities”.

The conference Data Management & Analytics for Utilities is gathering utilities and providers that can assist in a deep dive into data for improved efficiencies.

    Data Management Conference

“Use energy data analytics to reduce operational costs, increase grid efficiency, forecast demand and improve consumer engagement.”

“The transformation to a smarter grid is in full swing. With hundreds of millions of dollars already spent and many smart meter implementation and distribution automation projects reaching completion, the question on everyone’s mind is simple: “now what?” What do you do with the huge influx of new data generated by smart meters, field devices and sensors? How do you manage it? How do you store it? How do you make it work for you?”

    Big data

“The interest in big data around energy is a growing field of importance in informatics. The ability to manage data and determine its relevance in application to produce efficiencies will become more necessary as more information is generated,” said Dr. Tyra Oldham, ceo of LAND sds.

    Women Presenting Green Living

    By D. Carter

    April 11, 2012

The Holland Sentinel reported the story "Connected Professional Women to present 'Living Green' workshop April 17".

The power of women in business and sustainable industries can produce change in the order of work.

    Women presenting

"Connected Professional Women of West Michigan, a program of Stonecroft Ministries, will hold a workshop titled "Living Green" from 5:30-8 p.m. April 17 at Holland's Alpen Rose restaurant."

"The workshop will be led by Angela Topp, founder of Tree Huggers, an eco-friendly online store with brick-and-mortar locations in Holland and Grand Rapids. Topp will answer questions about methods of living a green lifestyle, including, recycling, composting and energy efficiency."

"Topp opened Tree Huggers in August 2010 to provide products promoting environmentally responsible lifestyles."

    Green living

The importance of green living is a step to living off the grid. Living off the grid is not easily said or done but green living is a mind shift to conservation, environmentalism and reducing emissions. The ability to reduce and conserve in any area can be the first step toward radical change  from grey to green behaviors.
